Why The Motorola + GrapheneOS Partnership Matters for Everyone
A step foward for privacy-friendly phones for regular families
I've got something I'm really excited about. Motorola and Graphene An alternative to Android or iOS on phones. announced a partnership in March 2026. They plan on putting out a new phone that can support GrapheneOS An alternative to Android or iOS on phones. in 2027. The thing that's great about this is it gives people a choice.
I likely won't be able to get one of these Motorola phones for quite some time. They're going to be at a higher price point with high end hardware, but I can't wait to see what they come out with! This may not help you save money right now, but it's a step in a direction of people having more control.
When I first heard about this partnership, I suspected that Motorola might first release a phone that can support GrapheneOS An alternative to Android or iOS on phones. , rather than having it pre-installed. I'm curious to see where they end up going with this project. 2027 will be an interesting year for tech and devices.

Frequently asked questions
Will these Motorola phones come with GrapheneOS pre-installed?
It's unclear what the plan is as of now. The first models may support GrapheneOS but require manual installation, but that's just my guess. Maybe future devices could ship with it ready to go out of the box.
Are these phones affordable for average families?
The first models will be higher-end with a premium price point, so it's hard to say, but I'd lean towards 'not yet.' As the technology matures, I'd expect pricing to become more accessible over time. I think you'll still be able to buy used Pixels for Graphene going forward. That can be affordable.
